New green space at the Terazza
January 15, 2011Great news! We’ve recently been given permission to plant on the Terazza café balcony in the Macadam Building on the Strand! This is just what we’ve been hoping for: a chance to make a green space within the concrete jungle.
The grotty smoker’s concrete balcony isn’t going to know what hit it. We have plans for hardy vegetables like onions and potatoes and later on, tomatoes. There’ll be a selection of herbs and some pretty flowers too. But this depends on what the staff and students want so if you have an opinion, voice it!
We’ve set ourselves the deadline, for better or for worse, for Wednesday 23rd February, when we’ll have a launch party to celebrate. In preparation we have a few events coming up to get everyone involved in how the garden is going to take shape.
The plan is to have a clearing party on Wednesday 19th January. Everyone is welcome to come along and get their hands dirty or just have a good chat. In early February we’ll install the birdbath, bird feeder and any other furniture bits.
Please check the Events Page for more information closer to the time.
